- Western Australia has some great examples of ancient rock art that dates back as far as 80,000 years.
- Murrujuga National Park on the burrup peninsula has a great collection, as do the Willie Gully caves only 20 mins from the town of Northampton
- Things like Petroglyphs of human figures, spirit characters, boomerangs, kangaroos, emus, symbols and many other carvings are all right Infront of you in such a beautiful part of country.
- Rock art can take two main forms; engravings (petroglyphs) and paintings/drawings (pictographs). Petroglyphs are created by removing rock through pecking or hammering. Pictographs are created by applying pigment (charcoal, clay, chalk and ochre) to the rock. this site Punda is classified as a petroglyph site.
- The site is thought to be more than 20,000 years old and is the traditional country of the Nyiyaparli people.
